After graduating from Columbia University’s Family Nurse Practitioner program, Nicky was ready to start his career as a nurse practitioner. While he was a very marketable new grad, his lack of experience made it challenging to land interviews with prospective employers. After discussing his goals with Ashley Price, an Associate within The Execu|Search Group’s Healthcare division, she leveraged her relationships to connect Nicky with healthcare organizations that were willing to train new grads. Shortly after, Nicky landed a job with a primary and multi-specialty care center! Nicky had a positive experience with Execu|Search, and was happy to speak with us about it:

On his background…

I started my career as a Home Health Nurse in 2015. I loved the freedom and the flexibility of the work, as well as the team of people I worked alongside, but I wanted more. I also grew to dislike traveling throughout the city, from client to client, as I would spend large amounts of time waiting on crowded subway platforms. To further my career as a nurse, I went back to school to attain my MSN.

On what he was looking for…

I was looking for a position as a Family Nurse Practitioner, as I had just graduated with my Master’s. I had a certain set of ideas about the type of practice I wanted to work in, as well as the field and patient population.

On how TESG worked to meet his needs…

Ashley connected me with fascinating clinics that I would never have seen through the channels I had previously been using to search for jobs. These facilities had very interesting setups, well-thought-out layouts, and meaningful goals they were working towards.

On preparing for the interview…

Ashley helped me feel very prepared for all my interviews. In our pre-interview calls, she informed me of each organization’s history, their hiring tendencies, and characteristics they tend to look for in candidates. These are details that I never would have gleaned from reading their websites alone.

On his overall experience…

I quickly received a job offer after two interviews, and honestly couldn’t have wound up at a better place to work. Ashley and her team were hard-working, exceedingly communicative, and astounding advocates throughout the entire process.
