Since his grandfather is a physician, Rahul knew he wanted to pursue a career in healthcare from a very young age. When he graduated from college with his bachelor’s in health science, however, he wasn’t sure what he exactly wanted to do. Ultimately deciding to direct his focus on the business and relationship building aspects of healthcare, Rahul enrolled in graduate school to earn his master’s degree in business administration.
Rahul learned several business and leadership skills that he knew he could apply to a variety of roles upon graduation. Despite not knowing much about staffing, Rahul went into an interview with Tandym Group. He quickly realized that this opportunity would allow him to combine his passion for healthcare and business development, and the rest is history!
After joining Tandym Health, a division of Tandym Group in 2015 as a Recruiter, Rahul has played an integral role in the growth of our Locum Tenens specialty area. He has since been promoted to Director, and was happy to discuss his experience with us:
On why he joined Tandym Group
As a new graduate, I was completely unsure of where my passions would lead me. I didn’t even know what staffing was! Once I had my interview with Tandym and learned more about this industry, I quickly realized that this was the right career path for me. I would be working directly with medical professionals such as physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants, as well as be focusing on business development. It was the exact blend of medicine and business that I was looking for!
On what he loves about working here
At first, I did not know what to expect and certainly had the same fears that all new grads have when starting their first job. I quickly realized that this was the right career path for me! During the last four years, I have learned more professionally and personally about myself than I ever thought I would. I owe this to my mentors and all the relationships I have been able to develop at this company. It’s a privilege to work with everyone I do, from my clients and our providers to my colleagues.
The company’s entrepreneurial culture has led to many career development opportunities throughout the years. I can take what I learn from working with my clients and our providers back to my team in order to improve and build upon our services. In this sense, growth is truly endless!
On what he enjoys most about his job
My team is comprised of some of the most motivated and intelligent people I’ve ever met. It’s been humbling to be part of such a great group. The Locum Tenens specialty area has grown significantly since I started, and our accomplishments would not have been possible without every single one of us.
Being able to help patients gain greater and easier access to healthcare is one of the most gratifying aspects of my job. Connecting healthcare organizations that are short-staffed with providers that are passionate about helping people keeps me motivated and excited to come into work every day.
On what sets him apart from others in this field
When I graduated from college and began searching for the next step in my career, it was imperative for me to find an environment that would spark passion and growth. I was looking for something long-term that would allow me to utilize the skills I had already developed, while improving my weaknesses.
This big picture mindset has motivated me to build a strong shared vision for my team. In our industry, every day can be different and present new challenges. If we keep our values and goals aligned, however, we can accomplish great things.
I believe that people enjoy working with me because this sense of motivation and excitement comes through in all my communications. I always aim to be personable, which allows me to better communicate with my team and relate to my providers and clients!
