Employee Spotlight: Bayley Storrier

Edward

At Tandym, we know that success is a team sport, and every month, we take a moment to recognize one standout player who goes above and beyond. Our Teammate of the Month isn’t just someone who gets the job done; they embody our values, uplift those around them, and make a lasting impact. Get to know Bayley Storrier, an Account Manager on our Sales team and Tandym’s Teammate of the Month for April 2025!

Who are you?

I’m 24 years old, born and raised in Wilton, CT. I went to school in Newtown and later attended high school in Danbury, where all my schools were small—my 8th-grade class had just nine students, and my high school graduating class had 50. I was a pretty regular kid: I swam competitively from 2nd to 7th grade, spent summers at a sleepaway camp on Lake Champlain in Vermont, played the oboe (earning first chair in the Norwalk Youth Symphony), and played soccer most of my life—originally as a goalie until I stopped growing in 5th grade. I continued playing in high school and club, and while I considered playing in college, it would’ve meant choosing a much smaller school. And as I say all that, I’m just starting to realize a few of those things aren’t regular kid things.

Instead, I went to James Madison University, which was a huge change—21,000 undergrads made it feel more like a town than a campus. I thought I’d be overwhelmed, but it turned out to be exactly what I needed. I joined a sorority, which helped with the transition, and where I ended up making lifelong friends in the process.

After college, I landed a job at Tandym, moved to the East Village a year and a half ago, and have been living the classic struggling young adult life in Manhattan ever since!

Who were your heroes and inspirations growing up?

I’m going to go with my mom for this one, like everyone else you’ve interviewed before, but because it’s really true! She’s outgoing, loves to travel, and is the life of every party. But more importantly, she’s just that reliable presence in everyone’s lives, not just for my dad, sister, and me. She’s the rock that keeps the family together year in and year out. Not to mention, she’s just been the best mother for my sister and me, juggling her schedule while never missing an event that either one of us had. Funny random fact – my friends referred to her as Rhonda when we were young (clearly not her name), but she still has that moniker with them. It’s still pretty funny that she’s cool with it.

If you could only communicate using memes and GIFs for a week, who on your team would understand you best?

That’s easy: Julie Kirsch and Pat O’Hagan. We already send each other so many GIFs and memes throughout the day for every single situation. Celebratory ones, confused ones, occasional disappointment ones. But also, just sending one out to get a laugh. I’m pretty confident that the communication transition to solely memes & GIFs would be seamless.

If you had to lead a workshop with absolutely zero prep time, and it could be about anything except the staffing industry, what would you teach?

I could totally teach people how to read music. A lot of people don’t know how, and I feel like I could easily give a quick rundown on it. I’m not much of a cook, but I could probably manage a baking class if it’s simple stuff. And if we’re talking about something that’s just for fun, I’d totally do a workshop on The Bachelor or FRIENDS. I’ve got tons of knowledge on both and could easily turn it into a fun trivia session!

Did you find Tandym, or did Tandym find you?

It was really a bit of both. I first heard about Tandym from my roommate, who happens to be the niece of one of the employees here. We both decided to apply for the internship, and that’s how I got connected with Kayla Dabbs, who ultimately brought me in.

At the time, I was actively looking for a full-time role and was open to anything. Once I started the internship, I quickly realized I could see myself growing here. I knew that if I worked hard and made myself known, there was potential for a full-time opportunity.

I connected well with the team, loved the office environment, and felt a strong sense of camaraderie. So, when the full-time offer came, it was an easy yes—it just felt like the right fit.

If you had to give one piece of advice to a new intern starting at Tandym tomorrow, what would it be?

My biggest piece of advice is to meet as many people as you can. Go in with an open mind, ready to learn and absorb everything. When I started, I didn’t expect to end up in Tech—I came in focused on Life Sciences—and honestly, I knew nothing about staffing either.

But what made all the difference was connecting with people across the company and different verticals. Whether it was chatting in the office, grabbing lunch, or attending company events, I was always asking questions and picking people’s brains—learning the lingo and gaining insights into various situations.

So, be a sponge. Absorb everything and take full advantage of the opportunity to learn from everyone around you

What was it like when you heard you won Teammate of the Month? What advice would you give to your peers striving for that title?

Honestly, I was completely shocked—I wasn’t expecting it at all. I got kind of awkward in the moment, being present at the Town Hall, and everyone turned to me. I thought, Do I wave? What do I do? But I was incredibly honored and flattered. It meant a lot, especially when people started reaching out to congratulate me.

As for advice, I didn’t set out to win anything, so it’s hard to offer a formula. I wouldn’t tell someone to act a certain way just to get recognized. My mindset has always been simple: just get your work done, and do it well.

I’ve had the chance to work across different teams, and I think if you’re willing to jump in, help out, and give your best, people notice. Recognition like this isn’t something you can really chase—it just comes when you’re consistently showing up and contributing in meaningful ways.

If you could combine two parts of your Tandym life into one perfect day—work + fun—what does that day look like?

The perfect Tandym day for me would kick off with a packed schedule of client meetings—face-to-face whenever possible. I love being out in the field, building relationships, and engaging with clients in person. Of course, if this is an ideal day, then that means there’s strong activity on my jobs while I’m out there. And if we’re really aiming for perfection, a client offer comes through by the end of the day.

If all goes according to plan, I’ll wrap things up with the team at Malone’s for a drink or two. And if the day was a real win (and tomorrow’s agenda is kind), there’s a solid chance it ends at KEATS for a little karaoke.

You must deliver a client pitch entirely using sock puppets. Who on your team do you bring to help you pull it off?

I don’t know why, but off the top of my head, I’m bringing Corinne Myers. She’s so witty and has so many great one-liners. She always has a hilarious comeback ready. I’m convinced she’d have great impressions and funny voices. Plus, with young kids at home, I’m pretty sure she’s getting solid practice without even knowing

If not Corinne, then maybe Kayla Dabbs. She is low-key one of the funniest people as the company. She has this fun, silly energy (in the best way possible) that I feel would absolutely bring the show to life.

What are your goals for 2025 and beyond?

My main goal is to close as many deals as possible and keep building off the momentum I’ve got. I’m really focused on growing the accounts I’m currently working on and seeing how far we can take it. I’m also super motivated to lock in something with our Consulting Solutions team. It’s an area I’m excited about and definitely want to make some moves this year.

You’re tasked with organizing a company-wide food tour. What are the 5 must-stops, and what is being ordered?

Oh man. This is both easy and hard at the same time. (10 seconds of thinking) Okay. I’ve got it. In no specific order, we’d go to “Fish Cheeks” for their Shrimp in Three Crab Sauce; “Thursday Kitchen” for the Steak & Grits; “Mama’s Too” for any of their square slices; “Leïto” for their Octopus Carpaccio; and “Gotham Burger Social Club” for a smash burger and a side of loaded tots. It’s indulgent, it’s messy—and it’s perfect. And if people want more, “Fiaschetteria Pistoia” for any of their homemade pastas.
